Yes, it's that time again. After two years of not fiddling with websites, I find myself once again setting up a website using the Drupal web framework. Previously, I'd set up sites for a few specific purposes either in Drupal itself or the CivicSpace offshoot. This site is different in that it is intended just to be a fun play area for me. I can't bring myself to call it a blog, but let's face it, that is more or less my intention. That, plus a place to stuff all the random bits of information that I think might be of even marginal interest to other people.
The only thing more fun than jumping in blindly to a new project is jumping in blindly to two new projects, so I am doing a parallel install under XAMPP on my MacBook Pro. I'm not a Mac guy. I've always had PCs, but when my old laptop died last year, nothing looked even near the Mac in terms of what I needed. So, I'm kind of learning how to talk Mac as I go along to. After about half a year with the Mac, I am still hitting the wrong keys reflexively. It doesn't help that at work I have a Windows machine. With an AZERTY keyboard, no less.
I got started on this project because I spent a few days working trying to hook a radio to a computer, and once I figured it out, I wrote up an HTML file summarizing what I'd done. At that point I realized that I had no place to post my write up. So, if something is worth doing, it is worth overdoing by several orders of magnitude, so here is the new site.
Not much is working now. That will either change as I bring myself up to date again with Drupal or the site will go the way of most blogs with a flurry of eager posts at the beginning and gradual senescence as posting loses its luster. We'll see.
